TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's swimming and diving team beat Florida Gulf Coast, 157-123, and Marshall, 184-97, in a tri-meet on Friday night at the UToledo Student Recreation Center.
"We're very grateful that both Florida Gulf Coast and Marshall made the long trip to Toledo tonight," said interim head coach
Brie Globig. "They gave us some great races, and really challenged us in the pool. We're excited to prepare for the TYR Invitational. We have a hard week of training ahead of us, and we're looking forward to what's up next."
Freshman
Lauren Kilgore had a strong performance for the Rockets, taking first in the 100 IM. Kilgore also tied for second in the 100 butterfly and third in the 50 butterfly. Kilgore finished just behind teammate
Duda Sales who took first in the 100 fly and second in the 50 fly. Kilgore was a member of the first-place 200 freestyle relay team. Swimming alongside
Kennedy Lovell,
Bec Welke, and
Lisa Eriksson, she helped her team to a 1:36.34 finish.
Lisa Lohner,
Ashley Jeffreys,
Izzy Jones,
Joelle Gallais, and
Bec Welke each added an individual first-place finish for the Rockets in their respective events. Welke and Jones were also members of the first-place 200 medley relay team.
The Rockets will be back in the pool Nov. 22-24 as they travel to Evanston, Ill. For the TYR Invitational.
