Janne Slegers Posts Seventh-Best 200 Freestyle in Program History at West Virginia Invite

Slegers’ final time of 1:48.64 breaks her previous career record
MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – Senior Janne Slegers finished with the seventh-best 200 freestyle time in Rockets history on day two of the West Virginia Invitational on Friday night in Morgantown, W. Va.
Slegers' time of 1:48.64 won her the event and broke her previous career record. The 800 freestyle relay team of Helena Pinto Coelho Lopes, Slegers, Tiana Temelkova and Claire Kemmere gave the Rockets their second top-10 finish of the evening, finishing in seventh with a time of 7:33.97.
In the 200 medley relay, the Rocket team consisting of Leah Evans, Grace Henely, Kenzie Robinson and Helena Pinto Coelho Lopes placed 11th with a time of 1:44.90.
Other top-15 finishes included a 12th place 100 breaststroke time for Grace Henely, a 14th-place finish in the 800 freestyle relay for Lindsay Bright, Kalyna Pyk, Clarke Doyle and Sarah Poach, and a 15th place finish for Kenzie Robinson in the 100 fly.
The Rockets are currently in sixth place after two days of competition in Morgantown, sitting less than 100 points away from fifth-place Drexel. Toledo will compete in the 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 fly and 400 freestyle relay Saturday evening.
