Toledo Heads West for TYR Invitational

TOLEDO, Ohio -Â The Toledo swimming and diving team travels to Evanston, Ill. this weekend for the 2019 TYR Invitational hosted by Northwestern. The Rockets will compete against a number of competitive programs, including Arizona, Arizona State, Louisville, Notre Dame, and Wisconsin.

"We look forward to having a little rest going into the TYR Invite and hope to see season-best and personal-best times. We have had a strong fall semester of competition so far and want to continue with the standard that has been set."
LAST TIME OUT
The Toledo women's swimming and diving team beat Florida Gulf Coast, 157-123, and Marshall, 184-97, in a tri-meet at the UToledo Student Recreation Center. Freshman Lauren Kilgore had a strong performance for the Rockets, taking first in the 100 IM. Kilgore also tied for second in the 100 butterfly and third in the 50 butterfly. Kilgore finished just behind teammate Duda Sales who took first in the 100 fly and second in the 50 fly. Kilgore was a member of the first-place 200 freestyle relay team. Swimming alongside Kennedy Lovell, Bec Welke, and Lisa Eriksson, she helped her team to a 1:36.34 finish. Lisa Lohner, Ashley Jeffreys, Izzy Jones, Joelle Gallais, and Bec Welke each added an individual first-place finish for the Rockets in their respective events. Welke and Jones were also members of the first-place 200 medley relay team.
ROCKETS EARN CSCAA ACADEMIC ACCOLADES
For the fifth-straight semester, the Rocket swimming and diving program earned CSCAA Scholar All-America accolades for their work in the classroom. The Rockets have earned the honor a total of 12 times. Sophomore Joelle Gallais earned CSCAA Scholar All-America individual accolades after being named to the honorable mention team this past spring.
TOLEDO INKS THREE TO NATIONAL LETTERS OF INTENT
Toledo will welcome three new faces to the roster next fall. The 2020 signing class is comprised of Sydney Conrad (Guelph, Ont.), Madison Giglio (Orland Park, Ill.), and Nejla Karic (Bosnia and Herzegovina).
COMING UP
The Rockets will prepare for two separate meets in early December, as the swimmers will travel to Atlanta, Ga. and the divers will make a trip to Oxford, Ohio. The swimmers will compete in the Toyota U.S. Open Dec. 4 - 7, while the divers will be at the Miami Diving Invitational Dec. 5 - 7.
