11/22/2019 8:13:00 PM

EVANSTON, Ill. – Toledo did not hold back at Northwestern University's TYR Invitational on Friday, clocking four school Top-10 times on its way to a second-place showing with 183 points after one day of the three-day event. Host Northwestern leads the six-team field with 383 points.

"Today ended with countless lifetime and season-best times," said interim head coach Brie Globig. "We are in second place right now, and are looking to keep the momentum going into tomorrow and Sunday. Izzy, Kennedy, and Lauren all had stand out swims in their events today. We're ready to get tomorrow started."

Redshirt-freshman Kennedy Lovell had an outstanding performance in the pool, etching her name in the Toledo Top-10 performance sheet in two events. Lovell clocked a 4:57.88 in the preliminary round of the 500 freestyle, securing a spot in the finals. She went on to drop over three second off her prelim time and place fifth overall. Lovell's 4:54.00 in the finals places her ninth overall in program history. Lovell led the Rockets in the 50 freestyle, placing ninth overall. She touched the wall in 23.51 – the ninth-fastest in program history.

Freshman Lauren Kilgore also etched her name in the Top-10 performance sheet, clocking a 2:00.61 in the 200 IM for third-place at the invitational and fourth-fastest in program history. Junior Izzy Jones won the 500 freestyle, touching the wall in 4:46.89. Jones' time was fourth-fastest in program history.

The Rockets placed fourth in both relays, clocking season-best times in both. Jones swam opening leg of the 400 medley relay, helping teammates Bec Welke, Duda Sales, and Lisa Eriksson to a 3:44.42 finish. Not far behind were teammates Ashley Jeffreys, Cami Cahill, Lauren Kilgore, and Kendra Powleski who placed sixth with a 3:48.96 time. In the 200 free relay, Eriksson, Kilgore, Alida Ramden, and Lovell clocked a 1:34.07 for fourth place. Sales, Ashley Lefever, Welke, and Polewski placed eighth in the event.

Sophomore Joelle Gallais placed fourth on the three-meter board, scoring a 250.60.
