Play Suspended Due to Darkness at Northern Intercollegiate

SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – For a second-straight weekend, play was suspended for the University of Toledo men's golf team. Saturday's action at this weekend's Northern Intercollegiate was halted due to darkness at 7:15 p.m. CST with most teams having 3-5 holes to play in the second round.
Toledo sat in ninth place at 16-over par 304 following the first round with senior Spencer Shoemaker setting the pace with a one-over par 73. Shoemaker was playing even better in the second round and was one-under par with five holes to play.
Sophomore Grant Godfrey, senior Duncan McNeill and junior Rasmus Broholt Lind followed Shoemaker on the leaderboard and were separated by just three strokes. Godfrey was tied for 43rd place at four-over par 76, McNeill was tied for 49th place at five-over par 77 and Lind was tied for 54th place at six-over par 78.
Sophomore Jack Boczar rounded out the Rocket lineup in 83rd place at 11-over par 83.
Marquette led the 14-team field after the opening round at seven-under par 281 with Missouri two strokes behind at five-under par 283. The Tigers' Rory Franssen was leading all individuals after 18 holes at three-under par.
The second round will resume at 8:15 a.m. CDT tomorrow with the third round being played shortly after.
