Rockets Advance in MAC Tournament with 5-2 Win Over Western Michigan

AKRON, Ohio - Junior Megan Choate hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning that helped propel Toledo to a 5-2 win over Western Michigan in the Mid-American Conference Tournament action Friday afternoon. The Rockets, who blasted three home runs in the contest, survived the elimination game and will now move on to play the winner of Ball State-Kent State contest. First pitch for the game will be approximately 6:00 p.m. tonight.

Freshman Bailey Curry and junior  Kaitlyn Bergman joined Choate in the Rockets' home run derby. Curry became UT's all-time single season record holder with her 14th home run of the season. Choate and Bergman hit back-to-back home runs in the Rockets' four-run fourth inning to give UT a 5-2 lead it would not relinquish. The three home runs were UT's only hits of the game, but the Rockets drew six important walks in the contest.
