KENT, Ohio - The Toledo softball team claimed a series victory over the defending Mid-American Conference champions Kent State with a 6-3 win at the Diamond at Dix on Sunday afternoon. The Rockets won two of three games on the weekend and are now 21-13 on the year, 5-1 in the MAC.

Junior
Kailey Minarchick picked up her 11th win in relief. Minarchick entered in the fourth inning and tossed 3.2 scoreless frames on four hits.
How it Happened
- Freshman Kylie Norwood doubled leading off the game, but UT failed to capitalize on the early opportunity as she was left stranded.
- The Rockets broke through in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead. Freshman Bekah Yenrick singled and scored from first on an RBI double by junior Megan Choate.Â
- Toledo extended its lead to 3-0 with a pair in the third. Freshman Bailey Curry reached on a fielder's choice and Cozy crushed a 2-2 offering for a two-out, two-run homer.
- Kent State came right back to even the score at 3-3 in the bottom of the third. A single and a four-pitch walk put two runners aboard to set the stage. A three-run home run by the Golden Flashes knotted the game with one swing of the bat.
- The Rockets were unfazed and regained a 4-3 lead in the next half-inning. Choate and freshman Ami Ill each drew walks and moved up on a wild pitch. Junior Kaitlyn Bergman flied out to deep center field to allow Choate to tag and score from third.
- Minarchick allowed multiple base runners in each of the next three innings, but was able to record clutch outs to get out of each jam.
- Freshman Ebony Garza reached on a fielder's choice with two outs in the seventh to give Curry her fourth chance at the plate. Curry delivered with her eighth blast of the year to put Toledo up 6-3. Curry now sits alone with the third most HRs in a single season at UT.
- Minarchick retired the Golden Flashes in order in the seventh to close out the game.
The Rockets are scheduled to host Eastern Michigan for a divisional doubleheader on Tuesday, April 3 at Scott Park.
