Rockets Look to Extend Three-Match Win Streak This Weekend

Toledo, Ohio — The University of Toledo women's tennis team looks to extend their three-match winning streak with a pair of road matches in southern Ohio this weekend.  The Rockets travel to Cincinnati on Friday, Feb. 16 at 5:00 p.m. before heading to Dayton on Saturday for a 2:30 p.m. contest against Wright State. Friday's match will be at the Western Tennis & Fitness Club, and Saturday's contest will be at the South Regency Tennis and Fitness Center.

Head coach Tracy Mauntler attributes her team's early-season success to the intensity and consistency they are bringing to each practice. and match, saying

"Consistency during matches is something we strive for. We've had some very steady performances lately from many of our players," Mauntler said. "Cincy is tough this year. They are better than last year, but so are we. It will be a great test to see where we are at right now in the season.

"Wright State has also had a very strong start to the season. It doesn't surprise me that they've had a few conference players of the week. I expect them to push us and we will have to play very well from top to bottom to get the win."

Toledo is 4-2 on the season and coming off a 6-1 stomping of the Oakland Golden Grizzlies on Saturday, Feb. 10. The Rockets swept the doubles competition thanks to the pairings of Sidnay Huck/ Kokoro Chishacki, Thalita Rodrigues/ Mimi Kendall-Woseley and Dee Dee Leenabanchong/ Colleen O'Brien. In singles play, Kendall-Woseley, O'Brien, Chishaki and Claire Aleck all won in straight sets, while Leenabanchong needed three sets to knock off her opponent.

LAST TIME THEY MET
The Rockets last saw the Bearcats in 2016 when they fell 7-0 at home. Toledo bounced back the next day against Wright State, defeating the Raiders 4-3. Kendall-Woseley was the standout player for the Rockets after sweeping her opponent in two sets at the No. 3 spot.
