Rockets Riding Six-Game Win Streak Entering Saturday's 'Battle of I-75'

SETTING THE SCENE
        A red-hot Toledo squad (14-6, 6-1 MAC) brings a season-high six-game winning streak into its 'Battle of I-75' matchup vs. Bowling Green (12-8, 3-4 MAC) on Saturday, Jan. 27. The Rockets' contest with the Falcons will be the lone meeting between the two schools this season. UT is coming off an 85-81 victory over Western Michigan, while BGSU dropped its second straight with a 93-62 setback at Northern Illinois. Tip-off time from Savage Arena is set for 7:00 p.m. with the game being streamed on ESPN3.
        Tuesday's victory in Kalamazoo gave the Rockets a three-game lead in the Mid-American Conference's West Division over Western Michigan (11-9, 3-4 MAC) and Ball State (12-8, 3-4 MAC). Toledo and Buffalo (15-5, 7-0 MAC) are the only two teams in the MAC with less than three defeats.
        Senior guard Tre'Shaun Fletcher and junior guard Jaelan Sanford spearheaded the Rocket attack against WMU with 22 and 21 points, respectively, while freshman guard Marreon Jackson contributed a career-high 15 points. Junior forward Taylor Adway led the Rockets on the boards with a career-high 10 rebounds to go along with seven points.
 
QUICK HITTERS
•   The last time UT won six in a row in MAC play occurred Jan. 24-Feb. 10, 2015. During its current six-game win streak, UT possesses an average margin of victory of 13.5 ppg and has trailed for just 19 minutes and nine seconds (8:17 vs. KSU, 7:27 @WMU, 2:17 @Ohio & 1:08 vs. Akron).
•   Fletcher is the lone individual to appear in the MAC's Top 10 in points, rebounds and assists with 18.4 ppg (4th), 8.3 rpg (3rd) and 4.0 apg (8th). Fletcher also tops the MAC in league play at 20.1 ppg, while Sanford is sixth with 18.3 ppg.
•   Jackson ranks second in the MAC with a 45.8 3PTFG% and is fifth with a 2.0 assist/turnover ratio, while junior forward Nate Navigato is third with 2.9 treys per game and fifth with a 43.5 3PTFG%. Sophomore center Luke Knapke is tied for third in the MAC with a 58.3 field-goal percentage and fifth with 1.5 blocks per game.
•   As a team, Toledo ranks 12th nationally (as of Jan. 23) with its 41.4 3PTFG% and also tops the MAC with its 47.1 FG% and 10.2 three-point FGs per game. The Rockets are also second with 80.2 ppg, 15.6 apg and a 1.3 assist/turnover ratio.
•   Bowling Green possesses a 6-3 win-loss mark on the road and has split its four MAC road contests. The Falcons rank third in the MAC with 78.9 ppg but are last in scoring defense (78.9 ppg.)
•   Redshirt freshman guard Justin Turner leads BGSU with 15.6 ppg. Junior center Demajeo Wiggins ranks second in the MAC with 9.5 rpg and is the Falcons' top scorer in league play at 16.0 ppg.
•   Toledo leads its all-time series against Bowling Green by a 90-80 margin and has won seven of its last eight meetings against its arch-rival. UT won two of three meetings last year, including a 77-62 home victory in the first round of the MAC Tournament.

POST-GAME NOTES FROM TOLEDO'S 85-81 WIN OVER WESTERN MICHIGAN
• Toledo's 6-1 start to league play is its first since 2013-14 when it opened league play with six victories in its first seven contests en route to a 14-4 MAC ledger. The last time UT posted a 7-1 start to a MAC season was in its 2006-07 campaign.
• UT swept its season series vs. Western Michigan for the first time since the 2006-07 season.
• Toledo continued its three-point shooting success on the road by making 13-of-28 shots behind the arc. UT has as 45.8 three-point FG% on the road compared to 36.8% in Savage Arena.
• Toledo is now 12-1 when not trailing at halftime and 4-1 in games decided by five points or less.
• UT is 13-1 when outshooting its opponent and 11-2 when shooting 45.0 percent or higher.
• Toledo committed just nine turnovers marking the first time since a three-game stretch from Feb. 20-27, 2016 that the Rockets had registered single-digit miscues in back-to-back games.
• The Rockets are 13-3 when scoring 70 points or more.
• Toledo was out-rebounded by the Broncos by a 38-37 margin, marking just the third time in its last 12 contests that UT has lost the battle of the boards.
• Taylor Adway registered career highs in rebounds (10) and minutes (26).
• Marreon Jackson scored a career-high 15 points and knocked down a career-best five treys.
 
TAKING A LOOK AT THE ROCKETS IN CONFERENCE PLAY
• Toledo leads the MAC in FG% (49.6), 3PTFG% (45.9) and three-point field goals per game (11.1) and ranks second in points (83.7) and assists (16.3 apg) per game, scoring margin (+10.1), rebounding margin (+3.6) and assist/turnover ratio (1.4).
• Tre'Shaun Fletcher ranks first in scoring at 20.1 ppg, and Jaelan Sanford is sixth at 18.3 ppg.
• Luke Knapke ranks second in field-goal percentage at 64.7 percent, while Sanford is second in free-throw percentage at 89.7 percent (26-of-29).
• Sanford is also third with a 3.3 assist/turnover ratio, and Fletcher is fourth with a 2.4 mark.
• Marreon Jackson is third with a 51.4 3PTFG%.
• Jackson and Sanford are tied for third with 2.6 treys per game.
