Rockets Split Second Day of Malahini Kipa Aloha Tournament

Honolulu, HI – Toledo defeated Seattle U, 2-1, before falling to host Hawaii, 4-1, on the second day of the Coca-Cola Malahini Kipa Aloha Tournament. With the split, the Rockets have an overall record of 5-12.
 
Game 1 vs. Seattle (W, 2-1)
 
Pacing the Rockets offensively was junior OF Ashley Rausch who went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles. Freshman DP Samantha Golden (2-for-3) and sophomore 3B Katie Cozy (2-for-3) also recorded multi-hit performances.
 
The Rockets first got on the board in the second inning when Golden crossed the plate on a single by Cozy. Golden had reached on a single and advanced to second on a Seattle error.
 
Rausch scored UT's second run in the third frame on an error by the Redhawk's first baseman.
                                                                                                                                          
Webb's shutout was spoiled when an illegal pitched forced a Seattle run in the sixth. The Madisonville, KY native (2-4) retired five batters and only allowed two hits in six innings.
 
Minarchick relieved Webb in the seventh inning to register her third save of the season.
 
Game 2 vs. Hawaii (L, 4-1)
 
The Rainbow Wahine jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first when they hit a two-out single up the middle to bring home a runner from second.
 
Toledo tied the game in the second inning when sophomore SS Megan Choate dropped a blooper behind the UH shortstop that allowed Golden to cross the plate.
 
Hawaii regained the lead in the fifth with a run scored off a sacrifice fly to right field and two plated off a double to left center.
 
Freshman Leah Allison replaced Minarchick in the circle in the bottom of the sixth frame. Minarchick (2-3) was saddled with the loss after allowing four runs on six hits in five innings.
