Freshman Dee Dee Leenbanchong powered through three to claim No. 4 singles victory

KALAMAZOO, Mich – Toledo (8-8, 0-3 MAC) fell to Western Michigan (7-9, 1-2 MAC) in a Mid-American Conference matchup on Friday evening.

"We competed very well at spots but we need everyone to step up at the same time against these tough MAC opponents," said Head Coach Tracy Mauntler. "with such a quick turnaround this weekend, our team is already back on track and focused on NIU."

WMU took control of the doubles competition. The Broncos clinched the point by downing UT at second and third doubles.

Junior Colleen O'Brien stepped up for the Rockets and was the first to claim a victory in the singles competition. O'Brien bested Katja Fevralev in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.

The Broncos answered back with four-consecutive singles victories to jump into a 5-1 lead and seal in the match win.

Freshman Dee Dee Leenabanchong and WMU's Tracy Kuhle were the last to finish at the No. 4 position. Kuhle jumped ahead with a convincing 6-2 vicftory in the opening set. Leenabanchong battled back to even the score with a 6-4 win in the following frame. The Rocket freshman powered to a 6-3 third-set win to claim her match.
