Heather Webb pitched a complete-game shutout in UT's 6-0 victory over Butler before Toledo dropped a one-run decision to SIUE, 3-2, on the opening day of the SIUE Tournament.

Sophomore
Heather Webb (6-6) fired a two-hit shutout with four strikeouts in her sixth win of the season. Webb faced only 25 batters in her fourth-complete game.

The Rockets jumped on the board in the opening frame after junior OF Ashley Rasuch (3-for-4) scored off a double by junior 1B
Samantha Showalter.

Toledo added another run in the third on an RBI single by Rausch. Junior OF
Marriah Wise had reached first with a bunt, stole second and advanced home on Rausch's single to left field.

UT tacked on another run in the following frame. Cozy reached on a double to left-center and advanced home on a pair of well-executed sacrifices by her teammates. Junior
Kylie Gross' sacrifice bunt moved Cozy to third and senior C
Ashley Maynard's sacrifice fly to center field brought her home. Â

Rausch hit a solo home run to center field in the fifth to put UT ahead, 4-0. It was her first homer of the season and the second of her career.

Toledo closed out its scouring with a pair of runs plated in the sixth inning. Freshman
Morgan Paaverud entered the game to pinch-hit for sophomore 1B
Megan Choate in the sixth with two Rockets in scoring position. Paaverud flied out to center field to bring Gross home from third. Junior
Courtney Heinritz advanced on the sacrifice fly and plated the final run off a wild pitch.

SIUE 3, Toledo 2
Rice (4-for-4) quickly started things off with a triple to right field off the first pitch of the game. Showalter soon scored Rice with a single to center field.

SIUE took the lead with back-to-back RBI on a double and single in the second frame.
Â
After two scoreless innings for both squads, Toledo evened the score in the top of the fifth when Rice knocked home Wise with a single through the right side.

The Cougars regained their lead in the home half of the inning with an RBI single through the left side for a 3-2 edge.

Sophomore
Kailey Minarchick (3-7) was tabbed with the loss after allowing three runs and 10 hits in 5.0 innings.
