Rockets Take On Wisconsin in First Round of NCAA Championship on Friday

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo women's soccer team has advanced to the first round of the NCAA Championship and will take on Wisconsin on Friday, Nov. 10 in Madison, Wis. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. eastern time at McClimon Soccer Complex and will be streamed live on BTN2Go.

The Rockets (12-7-3) entered the Mid-American Conference Tournament as the No. 3 seed and won three-straight matches to win their conference-best fifth tournament title. UT defeated No. 6 seed Western Michigan, No. 2 seed Ball State and No. 4 seed Bowling Green all by a score of 2-1 to advance to the national tournament.

Toledo previously made the NCAA Championship for three-consecutive season from 2006-08 and again in 2011.

The Rockets received a boost to this year's roster with the return of senior Sophie Pohl and junior captain Hannah Scafaria. Scafaria moved from defense to forward and leads the squad with eight goals on the year. Pohl si second on the team with six scores and tops the Rockets with four assists.

Wisconsin (13-5-2) received an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships after dropping their conference semifinal match to Northwestern. This will be the Badgers 20th trip to the national tournament.

UW is led on the season offensively by Dani Rhodes. Rhodes tops the squad with 11 goals and five assists.

The goalkeeping matchup will be redshirt freshman Madison Perrin for the Rockets and Caitlyn Clem for the Badgers. Perrin has played every minute in goal for UT and has accumulated 101 saves and a 12-7-3 record. Clem has just 54 saves in her 13 wins.

The Rockets are 0-4-0 all-time in NCAA Championship matches, while Wisconsin boasts a 15-18-2 mark. The two teams have met twice in their program's histories. Toledo was defeated 6-1 in 1998 and fell 4-2 in 2000.

The winner of this match will play the winner of Alabama State and South Carolina in the Round of 32.
