Rockets Rout Eastern Michigan, 4-1, to Cap Homecoming Weekend

TOLEDO, Ohio - Junior forward Hannah Scafaria found the back of the net twice to lead the Rockets to a 4-1 win over Mid-American Conference foe Eastern Michigan to punctuate Homecoming weekend on Sunday afternoon at Scott Park.

Toledo (6-5-3, 3-1-2 overall) wasted no time jumping on Eastern Michigan and tallied its first goal just 3:33 into the match. Junior Regan Price crossed the ball in from the right side and Scafaria was able to gather and beat the EMU goalkeeper to the far side.

Eastern Michigan (5-9-1, 2-4-0 MAC) pressured redshirt freshman Madison Perrin in the first half, but the Toledo keeper stood tall with four saves in the period. The Eagles broke through in the 37th minute to tie the match 1-1 on a goal by Peyton Davis. The two teams went to the break deadlocked at 1-1.

The Rockets regained the lead in 61st minute on the third goal of the season by senior Isa Echeverri. Fellow senior Sophie Pohl put a pass right where it needed to be for Echeverri to head in what turned out to be the match-winner.

A 69th-minute foul gave the Rockets a free kick in the scoring third of the field and senior Chiara Paradiso buried her first goal of the campaign in the upper left corner. Scafaria put the icing on the cake with her second scoring strike of the match in the 88th minute.

Perrin finished the match with five saves, three more than the EMU keeper. The Rockets out-shot the Eagles 15-10 and took six corner kicks to EMU's five on the day.

The women's soccer team remains at home for MAC contests against Akron on Friday, Oct. 13 and Buffalo on Sunday, Oct. 15.
