Toledo Closes Regular Season Against Bowling Green

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo women's soccer team closes its regular-season schedule with an I-75 battle against Bowling Green on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 3:05 p.m. The match will broadcast live on ESPN3.com.

The Rockets (8-7-3, 5-3-2 MAC) clinched a spot in their 11th Mid-American Conference Tournament in the last 13 years with a 2-1 win over Ohio in their last match on Sunday. Toledo fell behind early, but earned the win behind goals from senior captain Isa Echeverri and junior Alena Sidwell. The Rockets are one of five teams to have secured their spot in the postseason entering the final day of league action and will earn a home match with a victory over the Falcons.

On the season, the Rockets are led by junior captain Hannah Scafaria. Scafaria leads the squad and is third in the conference with eight goals. Echeverri ranks second on the team with five goals, while Sidwell and senior Sophie Pohl are tied for the team lead with three assists.

Defensively, redshirt freshman Madison Perrin has recorded 87 saves to go along with five shutouts on the campaign.

Bowling Green (11-5-1, 6-3-1 MAC) is unbeaten in its last five matches, including a 3-1 win over 2016 MAC Tournament Champion Kent State. The Falcons have also locked in a spot in the MAC Tournament and will host a first-round match on Sunday, Oct. 29.

BGSU is led by the conference's leading offensive player in Skylar Fleak. Fleak tops the team with 11 goals to go along with five helpers.

The Rockets and the Falcons, picked to finish sixth in their respective MAC divisions, currently sit in third and fourth place in the overall conference standings.

Toledo has dominated the series in the last 11 years. The Rockets have a 9-0-2 record over that span and have allowed just four goals to their opponent.

The women's soccer team will play its MAC Tournament quarterfinal match on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. local time. Location and opponent will be determined once all the MAC's regular season concludes on Thursday.
