KENT, Ohio - The Toledo women's soccer team fell to reigning Mid-American Conference Tournament champion Kent State, 1-0, on Thursday night at Dix Stadium.
The Rockets (7-7-3, 4-3-2 MAC) were out-shot by the Golden Flashes, 16-12, and Kent State had six corner kicks compared to Toledo's three. Senior captain
Isa Echeverri led the UT offense with three shots.Â
Redshirt freshman
Madison Perrin made five saves in goal for the Rockets, while KSU keeper Katie Kingsbury countered with five saves of her own for the Flashes.
Kent State (12-4-1, 8-1-0 MAC) scored the game's lone goal in the 23rd minute when Vital Kats found the upper-right hand corner of the net following a foul called on Toledo.
Echeverri nearly tied the match with a 75th-minute header, but a Golden Flashes defender headed the ball out of harms way to protect the one-goal lead.
The Rockets will now look to clinch a MAC Tournament berth at Ohio on Sunday, Oct. 22. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. at Chessa Field.
