TOLEDO, OH – Toledo downed Cleveland State, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Shadow Valley Tennis Club. With their third-consecutive win, the Rockets improve to 3-2 on the season.

"Today was another gutsy win by our squad," said head Coach Tracy Mauntler. "We could have easily lost that match, 3-4, but we dug out those last three matches to win 6-1."

The Rockets had an extremely strong showing in their doubles matches vs. Cleveland State. Rocket duo Claire Aleck and Mimi Kendall-Woseley downed their rivals, 6-2, at the No. 2 spot, and Rani Goodland and Megan Miller sailed to a 6-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.

UT's momentum carried over to the singles competition where Miller, Aleck and Colleen O'Brien all dropped their opening sets but fought their way back to win in three. Miller, who had lost her first set against Princess Gbadamosi, 6-3, rallied her way back in the No. 5 spot to win the last two sets, 6-1, 6-4. O'Brien, positioned at No. 2 singles, defeated Isabella Spindler after coming back from a 6-3 deficit, and Aleck recorded 10-6 victory against the Magnus's Blanche Lenoan to close out her match on top.

"These pressure-filled matches will help our team so much as move deeper into the season," said Mauntler.

Sidnay Huck and Kendall-Woseley were the only Rockets of the evening to defeat their opponents in straight sets. Huck returned to her spot at the top of the Rockets' lineup and downed Aleksandra Golawska, 6-3, 6-2. Following Hucks' lead, Kendall-Woseley claimed her victory over Cleveland State's Jana Schober, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 4 spot.

UT will travel to Detroit, MI on Friday, Feb. 3 to match up against the Detroit Mercy Titans in a 7:00 p.m. contest.
