ROCHESTER, MI – Freshman
Jordyn Greer scored her first career goal in the 36th minute to lead Toledo to a 1-0 triumph at Oakland on Sunday at the Oakland Soccer Field. With the shutout victory, the Rockets stretch their winning streak to three straight matches and improve to 4-3-0 on the season.
Freshman
Sheridan Bufe was credited with the assist, as she led Greer with a long pass which put the Toledo native in on a one-on-one opportunity with the Golden Grizzlies netminder. Greer was able to sneak the ball past the charging keeper for the eventual match winner.Â
UT made it difficult for Oakland which failed to put a shot on goal in the first 45 minutes. Offensively, Toledo took seven shots in the period, including the match's lone tally.
Sophmore
Katie Wilson and the UT defense was able to keep Oakland off the scoreboard in the second half to post a third-straight shutout.Â
Greer and senior
Kiersten Johnson both took three shots to lead the Rockets, who outshot the home team, 11-10.
Toledo returns home for its next match against Indiana State on Sunday, Sept. 18 at Scott Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
