TOLEDO, OH – Toledo completed its sweep of Northern Illinois (19-28, 12-9 MAC) with an 11-2 win on Sunday, May 8 at Ralph McKinzie Field. With the win, the Rockets improve to 13-34-1 overall and 8-10 in the Mid-American Conference.

Ross Adolph collected a career-high three RBI during a 2-for-2 day with one double. Sophomore 1B
Dalton Bollinger tied a career high with three RBI with a double and a single. Bollinger crossed the plate twice during the win. Senior 3B

Matt Hansen drove in two RBI today, while junior DH
Jake Krupar plated one RBI.

The Toledo bats have been hot all weekend and today was no different. UT scored a season-high 11 runs and tied a season high in hits with 15. The team batting average went up 16 points from the beginning of the weekend, and scored 25 runs during the sweep. Hansen led the offense going 5-for-8 with a double, home run and team-high six RBI during the weekend. Hansen also walked three times, and had a .667 on-base percentage.

Freshman LHP
Michael Jacob earned his second career win after throwing 4.0 frames in relief, tying a career-high. Jacob fanned three and allowed one earned run during the outing. Junior RHP
Sam Shutes earned the start and did not allow an earned run over 4.0 innings. Shutes fanned two batters and allowed one run to score. Sophomore LHP
Alex Wagner shut the door on NIU in the ninth. Wagner did not allow a run to score and allowed two runners to reach base.

The Rocket arms limited NIU all weekend. UT had a team-ERA of 2.67 during the weekend, and allowed just eight earned runs to score. The Midnight Blue & Gold struck out 17 and walked just four all weekend.

Toledo jumped on the board early in the first inning. Bollinger started the scoring with a double down the right-field line to score sophomore CF
Brad Boss and senior RF Cory Finker to give UT a 2-0 advantage. After Tansel scored on a scoring error, Hansen drove home Bollinger on a single to right field. Krupar capped the five-run inning with an infield single to score Martillotta.

NIU earned a run back on a double steal that scored Brian Sisler to make the game 5-1.

Bollinger brought the lead back to five in the second with a groundout to the shortstop to score Boss.

Sisler made the game 6-2 with a groundout to second baseman to score Johnny Zubek for the final NIU run of the game.

Adolph drove home Hansen and Martillotta with a double to left-center field to give UT an 8-2 advantage in the seventh. Toledo added three more in the eighth with a Martillotta double, Hansen sacrifice fly and Adolph sacrifice fly to make it 11-2 and put the game out of the Huskies' reach.

UT will begin a seven-game homestand beginning on Wednesday, May 11 at 4:05 p.m. against Wright State.
