SHOAL CREEK, AL - University of Toledo senior Sathika Ruenreong is tied for 15th place following Thursday's first round of the 2016 NCAA Shoal Creek Regional. The tournament is being hosted by the University of Alabama at the par-72, 6,470-yard Shoal Creek Club course.

Ruenreong concluded play with a round of three-over par 75, posting three birdies, four bogeys and one double-bogey on the day. Only one player posted a round under par throughout the day with two more individuals at even-par.

Vanderbilt's Jennifer Hahn holds the lead after 18 holes with a two-under par 70. Northwestern's Kacie Komota and Oklahoma State's Maddie McCrary are tied for second place at even-par 70.

Ruenreong opened her round on Hole No. 10 and finished the back nine at one-over par thanks to a birdie on the par-four, 400-yard 18^th hole. She rebounded from a double-bogey on the par-four, 419-yard seventh hole with a 20-foot birdie putt on the par-three, 141-yard eighth hole.

"The course played really hard today because of some strong winds and tough greens," Head Coach Nicole Hollingsworth said. "Sathika struck the ball well, but she couldn't get many of her putts to fall."

Ruenreong is one of 96 players, comprised of 18 teams and six individuals, taking part in the event, which is scheduled for three rounds. The second round will commence on Friday with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m. ET. Ruenreong is set to tee off at 9:15 a.m. ET.

The top six teams and the top three individuals not associated with those squads will advance to the NCAA Championship in Eugene, OR.

The field also includes 26 Top 100 players, with Ruenreong ranking 132nd in Golfstat's rankings. Kansas'  Yupaporn Kawinpakorn is the top player in the field at No. 3 nationally.
