Toledo Downed Twice By Ohio in MAC Twinbill

TOLEDO, OH – Toledo (8-27, 3-7 MAC) battled through frigid conditions on Friday afternoon but ended up on the short end of 4-2 and 8-0 decisions against Mid-American Conference East Division foe Ohio (24-13, 6-4 MAC). Due to the inclement weather forecasted for tomorrow, the finale of the three-game series has been moved to Sunday, April 10 with a tentative first pitch scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

Senior Jessica Lemieux and junior Celeste Fidge accounted for the Rockets' two runs with solo homers in the opener.

GAME ONE
UT battled the national strikeout leader, junior Savannah Jo Dorsey, in the opener and took a 2-1 advantage after two innings thanks to leadoff homers from Lemeiux and Fidge in both the first and second innings.

Freshman Heather Webb matched Dorsey through four innings, but the Bobcats broke through for the winning runs in the sixth inning. Redshirt freshman LF Machayla Dorsey's two-out RBI double to left center delivered the go-ahead run, and freshman CF Deanna Cole singled through the left side to plate an insurance run.

The Rockets put two runners on base in each of the sixth and seventh frames but couldn't break through against Dorsey.

Dorsey (17-8) picked up the victory after limiting UT four hits and two runs while walking four and fanning seven batters. Webb (1-9) was saddled with the defeat after allowing nine hits and four runs with five walks and four strikeouts.

GAME TWO
Toledo could never get untracked offensively in the nightcap as sophomore Danielle Stiene (7-5) limited the Rockets to just two hits and one walk. Junior 2B Chandler Rice and sophomore C Kaitlyn Bergman tallied the lone UT hits.

Sophomore 3B Mikayla Cooper provided the visitors all the runs they would need with a three-run blast over the center-field fence. Freshman starter Kim Frank then settled down and held the Bobcats scoreless in the second and third innings.

Mikayla Dorsey's sacrifice fly in the fourth put UT down 4-0. Ohio added two more runs in both the fifth and seventh frames to account for the final margin of victory.
