Kent State jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the second when Luke Burch drove home Pete Schuler on a sacrifice fly to center field.

The Golden Flashes doubled its lead in the bottom of the fourth with a Zach Beckner two-bagger to score Mason Mamarella.

KSU used small ball in the sixth to extend its advantage to 3-0.  Burch put a sacrifice bunt down to score Sam Hurt.  Kent State had a runner in scoring position, but senior C Lucas Sokol cut down Mamarella trying to steal third.
