Niles, OH – Toledo (6-23-1, 2-4 MAC) came from four runs down to defeat Youngstown State (6-18, 1-7 Horizon), 6-4, at Eastwood field. With the victory, the Rockets improve to 6-23-1 on the season.

Cory Mee said. "I'm proud of the guys for the way we kept grinding during the game."

The Rockets went to the bullpen often and used a total of seven pitchers to pick up the win. Freshman RHP
Luke Schaefer earned his first collegiate victory after throwing 1.0 inning and not allowing a hit. Freshman LHP
Michael Jacob shut the door on his fifth save of the season after 1.0 inning of work. Sophomore LHP
Alex Wagner was the starter for UT and threw 2.0 innings, allowing three runs to cross the plate and striking out one batter. Junior RHP

"Our bullpen was huge for us," Mee said. "It put seven scoreless innings on the board which allowed us to come back. It was a great team effort."

Leading the way offensively was sophomore 1B
Dalton Bollinger, who went 3-for-4 with one double and three RBI, tying a career-high. Senior SS
Deion Tansel tied a game-high with three hits and knocked in one run. Junior DH
Jake Krupar earned his second RBI of the season after coming on as a pinch hitter.Â

"In the last couple of weeks the bats have started to heat up," Mee said. "We're a lot more consistent at the plate with our approach and it's showing."

Youngstown State jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first. Andrew Kendrick started the scoring with a single to left field to bring home Lorenzo Arcuri. Shane Willoughby hit a two-run double to score Kendrick and Billy Salem, but would be thrown out at third trying to stretch his hit into a triple.

Kendrick picked up another RBI in the fourth with a solo home run to give the Penguins a 4-0 advantage.

Toledo cut the YSU lead in half in the fourth. Bollinger made the game 4-1 with a double to the right-center field wall to score Tansel. After Bollinger advanced to third on a ground ball, he scored when Cales reached on a fielding error by the Penguins third baseman.

The Rockets gained the lead in the top of the fifth. Tansel doubled down the left field line to score freshman 3B
Riley Campbell. Bollinger gave UT a 5-4 lead with a bases-clearing single up the middle to score Tansel and freshman LF

Ryan Callahan and extended the Toledo advantage to 6-4.

YSU managed to load the bases in the ninth with two outs, but Jacob worked out of the jam to pick up the save.

UT is back in action on Friday, April 8 at 6:00 p.m. to begin a three-game series at MAC foe Kent State.Â
