TOLEDO, OH – The Toledo softball team swept IPFW, 5-1, 3-1, in a midweek non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday at Scott Park. The Rockets improve to a 10-31 overall record, while the Mastodons fall to 11-33 on the season.

Jessica Lemieux was Toledo's top offensive threat, going 5-for-7 on the day with a double, a triple and two stolen bases. Sophomore 1B
Samantha Showalter went 3-for-6 with two RBI and a stolen base.

GAME 1Senior RHP
Marla Gooding (8-15) collected her eighth win on the season after pitching for all seven innings. Gooding did not walk any batters and only allowed one earned run.

The Rockets were quick to get on the board with one run in the first. Lemieux crossed the plate on a wild pitch by IPFW's Sarah Lazarowich (5-16).

After going scoreless in the next two innings, UT extended its lead to 5-0 in the fourth frame. Rice started things off with a double to right-center and then came across following a catcher's interference call. Junior
Ashley Maynard drew a bases-loaded walk for the Rockets' next run, and sophomore C
Kaitlyn Bergman and freshman SS
Megan Choate both scored on wild pitches to close out the scoring.
The Mastodons' lone run came in the sixth inning.
GAME 2Freshman RHP
Heather Webb (2-10) registered her second collegiate win after pitching five innings, allowing one earned run and striking out four.

The Rockets scored first for a sixth-consecutive game when Lemieux tripled in the bottom of the first and scored on Showalter's single.
IPFW evened the score in the fifth but couldn't plate the go-ahead run.
Showalter's two-out single up the middle in bottom of the frame scored Lemieux for the winning run.
 UT closed out the scoring when junior RF
Celeste Fidge hit her fifth home run of the season over the right-field fence.
