Fairborn, OH – Toledo (8-26-1) scored in five-straight innings and took down Wright State (23-11), 9-3, at Nischwitz Field. With the win, the Rockets improve to 8-26-1 and head coach
Cory Mee earned his 299
th career win.

"Our formula for success is to pitch, play defense and hit in the clutch and we got all three of those today," Mee said. "We got into some trouble but the pitchers limited the damage and got out of some jams. We also played great defense with some diving catches in the outfield and picked up some clutch at-bats."

The Rockets offense lit up the scoreboard for a season-high nine runs. Senior SS
Deion Tansel picked up his second three-RBI game of the season and swiped two bags in a 1-for-3 day. Sophomore 3B/DH
Brad Boss ripped a two-run home run, his second of the season, and also scored three runs. Senior C
Lucas Sokol also picked up two RBI and scored two runs in a 2-for-3 day. Senior RF
Ryan Callahan and freshman 3B
Riley Campbell also plated one RBI.

"It comes down to execution," Mee said. "We executed with guys in scoring position and got some clutch two-out hits. I thought our approach was a lot better at the plate."

Senior LHP
Ross Achter picked up his fourth victory of the season after throwing 6.2 innings and scattering three hits. Achter allowed two runs and struck out one batter in the win. Junior RHP
Jordan Kesson and junior LHP
Alex Wagner pitched in relief for the Rockets.

"Ross has really been pitching well for us," Mee said. "He pounded the zone and forced the other team to earn everything."

Toledo took the lead in the fourth with a safety squeeze bunt from Tansel. Campbell used his speed to just beat the tag at the plate and make the game 1-0.

UT extended its advantage to 3-0 in the fifth. Sokol hit a Texas-league single to right field to score sophomore DH
Brad Boss. Sokol advanced to second on the throw and scored when Campbell singled to center field for his sixth RBI of the year. Wagner did not allow a run to score and struck out two batters in 1.0 inning.

Wright State answered in the fifth inning. John Brodner hit a double down the left field line to score Matt Morrow to cut the UT advantage to 3-1.

The Rockets tacked on one run in the sixth. Callahan brought home Bollinger on an infield single to the make the game 4-1. Bollinger previously reached on a throwing error.

Toledo busted the game open in the sixth. Sokol started the scoring with a sacrifice bunt to score Boss. Sokol reached on an error by the pitcher. Tansel picked up his second and third RBI of the day with a single through the left side of the infield to score freshman LF
Ross Adolph and Campbell to give UT a 7-1 advantage.

The Raiders added one in the bottom half of the inning on a fielder's choice from JD Orr to score Sean Murphy. WSU had two runners on but
Jordan Kesson worked out of the jam.

Brad Boss gave UT a seven-run advantage with a two-run home run to right field to make the game 9-2.

Wright State added a run in the eighth with a double down the right field line to score Daniel Arthur. The Raiders had the bases loaded, but Kesson worked out of the jam

Toledo will wrap up the series on Sunday, April 17 at 2:05 p.m. vs. Wright State at Scott Park. The game will be the fourth home contest for UT this season, and Mee will be looking for his 300
th career win.
