Mount Pleasant, MI – The Toledo softball team dropped its Friday game to Central Michigan, 2-1. The Rockets enter Saturday's doubleheader with an 8-29 overall record (3-9 MAC). The Chippewa improve to 16-21 on the season and 3-8-1 in the conference.
 
Sophomore 1B Samantha Showalter went 2-for-2 on the day, while sophomore CF Ashley Rausch and junior RF Celeste Fidge each recorded a hit.
 
The Rockets were the first team to jump on the board. After Fidge ripped a double to right center, sophomore Kylie Gross pinch ran and scored on a sacrifice fly by freshman Danni Ryan. 
 
Central Michigan's Katelyn Rentschler tied up the score with bomb past center field in the bottom of the fourth. Rentschler then ended the game in the seventh with her second homer of the contest.
 
Senior RHP Marla Gooding (7-14) recorded the loss for the Rockets after pitching for all 6.0 innings (6 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO).
 
Toledo will be back to Margo Jonker Stadium tomorrow for a doubleheader against the Chippewa. Game one is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.
