
Toledo Heads to Columbus to Play Ohio State

Columbus, OH – The Toledo (4-20-1, 2-1 MAC) baseball team will head to Columbus to take on Ohio State (14-7-1, 2-1 Big Ten) on Wednesday, March 29 at 6:35 p.m. at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium.

Head coach Cory Mee expects junior RHP Jordan Kesson (0-1. 6.75 ERA) to pitch for the Rockets on Wednesday. The Buckeyes will throw RHP Austin Woodby (3-1, 4.60 ERA) against UT.

The Midnight Blue & Gold holds a 7-29-1 all-time record against OSU and are 0-1-1 this season. The Rockets fell 7-1 in the season opener in Vero Beach, FL, and picked up a rare tie, 5-5, in the finale of the Historic Dodgertown Classic.

Last time out, the Rockets picked up its first win of the 2016 conference season, 3-2, against Buffalo as senior RHP Caleb Schillace earned his first victory of the season. Schillace threw 3.0 innings of relief and only allowed one hit and one walk. Senior LHP Ross Achter started the contest for UT and threw 5.0 frames while allowing just two runs to cross the plate, with both being unearned. Freshman RHP Michael Jacob slammed the door in the ninth to earn his third save of the season.

Sophomore OF AJ Montoya ripped two home runs in the weekend series against Buffalo has hit four bombs this season.Â

Ohio State is coming off a series victory against Northwestern to open Big Ten play. The Buckeyes are led by Nick Sergakis, who is hitting .420 (37-for-88) with eight doubles, one triple and three home runs.
