Rockets Fall to Green Bay in Fourth Overtime Game of Season, 78-77

TOLEDO, OH – Toledo played its fourth overtime game of the season on Saturday evening but came up on the short end of a 78-77 (OT) decision to Green Bay in Savage Arena.

Senior forward Steve Taylor Jr. registered his sixth double-double of the season to lead the Rockets. He tied his career high with 22 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and also tied his career best with five assists in 37 minutes.

Senior guard Jonathan Williams and sophomore guard Jaelan Sanford also scored in double digits for UT with 20 and 13 points, respectively.

Senior guard Charles Cooper paced four Phoenix players in double figures with 18 points.

The Rockets held a 40-36 advantage on the boards with seniors Jordan Lauf and Zach Garber supporting Taylor's efforts on the glass with nine and eight rebounds, respectively.

Green Bay held a slight advantage in the shooting department, converting 47.5 percent of its attempts compared to UT's 44.6 conversion rate. Both teams shot 33.3 percent from three-point range with the Rockets hitting eight-of-24 long-distance shots compared to the Phoenix's five-of-15 clip.

Toledo let an opportunity to win the game at the end of regulation slip away when it missed two of four free throws and committed three turnovers in the final two minutes.

The Rockets also held a 76-73 advantage following sophomore forward Nate Navigato's layup with 1:31 to play in the extra session. Freshman guard Trevor Anderson closed Green Bay's deficit to 76-75 10 seconds later and junior guard Khalil Small's jumper put the visitors ahead, 77-76, with 36.5 seconds left. Navigato then split two free throws to even the score at 77-all with 27.1 seconds to play. Small hit one of two free throws with 6.2 seconds remaining to give the Phoenix the victory as UT was unable to get a shot off before the buzzer sounded.

Toledo remains at home for its next contest when it face a second-straight Horizon League opponent. The Rockets will host Detroit Mercy on Wednesday, Dec. 7 with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
