Kareem Hunt rushed for 136 yards and junior
Logan Woodside threw for 327 yards and three touchdowns to lead Toledo to a 48-17 victory over the Zips in Akron on Wednesday night.

    Hunt's touchdown early in the second half gave Toledo a 27-10 lead that was never seriously threatened. With his 136-yard effort, Hunt now has 4,396 career rushing yards, moving past Wasean Tait (4,338 yards from 1993-98) into second place on UT's all-time list.

Terry Swanson added 67 yards and one rushing TD, as well as a 10-yard TD reception. Junior
Cody Thompson led the receivers with 5 catches for 70 yards.

    Toledo outgained the Zips in total offense, 622 to 444. Junior
Ja'Wuan Woodley led the defense with three tackles behind the line of scrimmage.

    The Rockets moved to 7-2, 4-1 in the MAC, while Akron fell to 5-5, 3-3 in league play.

    Akron got on the board on its first play from scrimmage, a 91-yard TD pass down the middle of the field from Thomas Woodson to Jerome Lane. Toledo countered with a nine-play, 73-yard drive that resulted in a 21-yard field goal by
Jameson Vest. On Akron's next drive, Tom O'Leary matched Vest's kick with a 21-yarder of his own to make the score 10-3 with 4:13 to play in the first quarter.

    Toledo tied the score on the first play of the second quarter on a nine-yard run by
Terry Swanson, then took the lead, 13-10, later in the period on a 23-yard field goal by Vest.

    The Rockets scored on the final play of the half on an 18-yard TD pass from Woodside to tight end
Michael Roberts, giving them a 20-10 lead at the break. The drive covered 51 yards in just 46 seconds, and was keyed by a 20-yard run by Hunt.

    Hunt kept the offense rolling in the third quarter, rushing five times for 33 yards in a six-play drive he capped off with a two-yard score to make it 27-10 with 9:56 left in the quarter. Akron cut the lead to 27-17 with an eight-play, 75-yard drive that was culminated by a 27-yard TD strike from Woodson to JoJo Natson.

    Toledo marched right back with a 12-play, 71-yard drive that was finished off by
Terry Swanson's 10-yard TD catch from Woodside to push the lead out to 34-17. Woodside struck one more time with a 44-yard TD strike to
Zach Yousey to make the score 41-17 with 11:53 left in the contest.

Art Thompkins capped the Rockets' scoring with a 10-yard TD run to extend their lead, 48-17, with 4:47 left in the game.

    The Rockets will return to the road with another Wednesday night contest vs. Northern Illinois at Guarantee Rate Field in Chicago.
