Kiersten Johnson scored her team-leading sixth goal to force overtime, but Toledo eventually fell to Eastern Michigan, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at Scicluna Field.
The Rockets (6-7-1, 1-4-1 MAC) played from behind after surrendering the match's first goal 11 minutes after the opening whistle. Sabrina McNeill took a free kick and snuck the ball inside the far post.
Johnson tied the match, 1-1, in the 75th minute when junior
Isa Echeverri delivered a through ball to Johnson who was able to dribble around the keeper for an open shot. The score remained the same at the end of regulation.
Just 5:02 into the extra frame, Eastern Michigan (4-8-2, 2-4-0 MAC) took the win as McNeill found Michelle Rollins for the game-winner.
Toledo and Eastern Michigan played statistically even as both teams took 12 shots and both goalkeepers made five saves. EMU boasted a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Natalie Knauf and Echeverri took four and three shots, respectively.
The women's soccer team continues Mid-American conference road action as it visits Miami and Ball State in the upcoming week.
