Morgantown, WV - The University of Toledo women's tennis team lost a dual-match to West Virginia, 6-1, in Morgantown, WV on Friday afternoon.
Toledo's sole victory came from sophomore
Megan Miller (Sylvania, OH), who bested Carolina Lewis at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 2-6, 12-10.
The Mountaineers took the doubles point thanks to victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. The Rockets' No. 3 doubles team of
Claire Aleck and
Lauren Thai were leading, 5-4, in the first set when play was abandoned. In singles action, WVU took five of the six matchups in two sets.
"I thought we competed well against a very good West Virginia team," said head coach
Tracy Mauntler. "I see us getting better each time we step on the court. Playing teams like this will make us better for MAC season. I was proud of Megan for the way she competed. She's made huge improvements since the fall season."
The Rockets travel to Duquesne tomorrow for a 4:00 p.m. match.
