The Rockets (16-31) had six batters record multi-hit games, led by sophomore LF Jessica Lemieux. Lemieux went 3-for-5 with two triples and two runs scored from the leadoff spot for the Midnight Blue & Gold.
Freshman SS Chandler Rice (2-for-4), senior RF Erinn Wright (2-for-4), senior 3B Lani Ernst (2-for-2), freshman 2B Ashley London (2-for-3) and freshman CF Tasi Docktor (2-for-4) all recorded multiple base knocks as well.
Sophomore P Sammy Emery earned her first win of the season, pitching a complete game (seven innings), and allowing six runs (one earned) off of 11 hits and one strikeout.
Toledo opened the scoring in the top of the first, as Lemieux led off the game with her first of two triples. Wright doubled to left field three batters later, scoring Lemieux. Wright advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on the Rockets' third extra-base hit of the inning, a triple by Ernst. A single by London sent Ernst home, and the Midnight Blue & Gold entered the bottom half of the frame with a 3-0 lead.
The Golden Grizzlies cut the Toledo lead to one in the bottom of the first, but the Rockets struck back with two unearned runs in the top of the third inning.
Oakland made a strong push in the final frame, scoring four runs, but Emery was able to get out of a bases loaded jam to secure the win for the Rockets.
Wright finished the game with two RBI to increase her team-leading total to 28.
The Rockets are back in action with four Mid-American Conference games this weekend at Scott Park. Toledo will welcome Eastern Michigan for a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 1:00 p.m., and single games against Central Michigan on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Saturday's game against the Chippewas will be broadcast live on BCSN.
