
Toledo Places 11th at Gopher Invitational

INDEPENDENCE, MN – Toledo concluded its opening tournament of the 2013-14 campaign at Minnesota's Gopher Invitational with an 11th-place showing. The tournament was held at Windsong Farm Golf Club.
New Mexico captured the tournament title with a impressive 54-hole total of four-under par 848, six strokes in front of second-place Baylor and nine ahead of third-place Kent State. The Golden Flashes' Corey Conners became the first repeat champion of the Gopher Invitational by carding a seven-under par 206 (71-66-69).
Junior Chris Selfridge paced UT at six-over par 219 (78-70-71) and tied for 24th place. Two strokes behind Selfridge was sophomore Otto Black tied for 35th place at nine-over par 222 (76-73-73) with junior Jamie Richardson (74-78-78) tied for 47th place at 17-over par 230. Rounding out the Rocket lineup was junior Mike Lancaster (73-79-81-233/56th) and junior Pat Cermak (78-79-82=239/61st).
The Rockets will return to action next week with a short trip to Ann Arbor, MI for the Wolverine Invitational. UT will play 36 holes on Monday, Sept. 16 before closing out the tourney with 18 holes on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
