Toledo, OH - Toledo women's tennis captured their fourth Mid-American Conference victory this afternoon, defeating Akron 7-0. Toledo is now 14-4 and 5-1 in the MAC.
I'm happy about the energy we brought out today," said Head Coach Tracy Mauntler. "We took control early and didn't look back."
The Rockets were nearly flawless in singles. Both Myriam Cueva and Maha Guirguis only allowed their opponents to win one game. Cueva won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 and Guirguis won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3. Nadia Zoubareva, Jenny Belsky and Jessica Azoulay each allowed less than four points. Zoubareva won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4, Belsky won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 and Azoulay 6-3, 6-0 at No. 6. Martina Wodzinski played the toughest match of the day at No. 2 winning 6-2, 7-6 (7).
Doubles was no different than singles. Toledo swept the Zips from the top to the bottom in doubles.
The Rockets next match will be next weekend when they travel to Western Michigan on Friday, April 20 to take on the defending MAC Champion Broncos. Match time is set for 1 PM.
