Final Stats

TERRE HAUTE, IN - Indiana State claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win over Toledo on Friday afternoon in non-conference action. The Sycamores' Lauren Podolski scored the game's only goal in the 42nd minute to improve the home team to 2-4, while the Rockets dropped their fourth-straight contest and stand at 1-5-1.

The goal was Podolski's team-leading third tally of the season. Callie McDonough was credited with the assist off a free kick.

Despite being shutout for the third-consecutive match, the Rockets held a 20-13 edge in shots. Freshman Molly Cornwell paced the UT attack with a career-best seven shots.

Indiana State narrowly missed on three scoring tries that could have broken the game open and turned the 1-0 win into a four-goal difference. In the first half, ISU's Katlin Owens blasted a shot in the fifth minute that sailed just over the cross bar.

In the second half, ISU's Meaghan Gaffney missed the goal wide on a centering pass from Podolski. The net was open as UT senior goalkeeper Jen Whipple pursued the cross and the crowd leapt to their feet as the ball narrowly missed falling into the side of the goal.

Later in the half, Sarah Whiteley's shot in the 68th minute bounced off of the side post as she broke away from the pack.

The Rockets were very also close to scoring off their three corner kicks in the second half, but the Midnight Blue and Gold just could not find the back of the net.

ISU goalkeeper Rachel Rudzis was credited with nine saves and collected her second shutout of the season, while UT's Whipple finished with one save.

The Rockets will return to action on Sunday when they travel to West Lafayette, IN to battle Big Ten member Purdue. The opening whistle is slated for 1:00 p.m. (CT)
