DETROIT (AP) - Brandon Cotton scored 24 points, including a pair of free throws with 0.6 seconds to play, to lift Detroit past Toledo 65-63 on Saturday.
Cotton scored 16 of his points in the second half to help secure the Titans' third straight victory.
Junior forward Keonta Howell had 17 points and junior guard Justin Ingram added 13 for Toledo (13-10), which saw its three-game winning streak end.
Cotton stole the ball from Howell with five seconds to play and charged toward the basket before Ingram fouled him. Toledo attempted a long pass for a final shot, but Detroit's Chuck Bailey knocked it away.
Ingram's 3-pointer with 2:54 left gave the Rockets a six-point lead, but Detroit (14-14) allowed Toledo just two free throws the rest of the game. Ingram made the foul shots with 48 seconds to play to give Toledo the lead, but Cotton answered with a leaning jump shot 15 seconds later to tie the game at 63.
Toledo trailed by as many nine points in the second half but got back into the game with a 7-0 run midway through the half.
Bailey finished with 14 points and Torvoris Baker added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Titans, who led 31-24 at halftime thanks to a 9-0 run.
Junior forward Florentino Valencia and freshman guard Jonathan Amos scored 11 points apiece for Toledo.
