AKRON, OH - A goal in the 50th minute proved to be the deciding factor as Toledo knocked off Akron, 2-1, in a Mid-American Conference women's soccer match on Friday night at Lee Jackson Field. With the victory, the Rockets improve to 4-6-3 overall, 3-1-1 in MAC action.
UT freshman Molly Cornwell scored the eventual game winner at 49:38, dribbling the ball in from the left side and sending it into the bottom right corner of the net. Cornwell leads the Midnight Blue and Gold with nine points (three goals, three assists) on the season.
Akron (8-4-0, 1-4-0 MAC) pulled within a score at 64:36 when Danielle Walsh sent a high-arching kick from 20-yards out off the crossbar and into the net.
