TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - Jalen Parmele rushed for 145 yards and a touchdown to help Toledo to a 35-20 win over Akron on Saturday night.
Parmele carried 27 times and scored on a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Toledo (3-6, 1-4 Mid-American Conference) took a 21-7 lead at halftime on 1-yard runs from Aaron Opelt and DaJuane Collins and Tyrrell Herbert's 36-yard interception return.
Akron (3-5, 1-3) got on the board when Doug Williams returned a fumble 26 yards for a touchdown with 5:03 remaining in the half. The Zips scored in the fourth on a 2-yard run from Dennis Kennedy, who finished with 119 yards on 24 carries.
Toledo's Alex Steigerwald scored on a 19-yard run in the fourth. Opelt completed eight of 16 passes for 97 yards and was sacked once.
Luke Getsy was 13-of-29 with 191 yards for Akron. He threw two interceptions and was sacked four times.
