It meant a lot to me. My teammates think that I'm a vocal leader both on and off the floor. The younger players on the team depend on the captains and they know they can come to us at any time with any sort of questions basketball and/or non-basketball related. It is really good to know that my teammates think that I'm one of those people.
It has been a difficult process. It's hard to go from the top of the mountain to the middle of the stream, but this is a learning experience for everybody. Last year we had a lot of newcomers come in, so there was a definite learning curve. Every program goes through a period like this, but we have a challenge in front of us to get this team back to the top of that mountain.
The city of Toledo reminded me a lot of my hometown, Cincinnati. I had a comfortable feeling here and I knew it was the place for me. I also knew the basketball team was a good program to come to with a lot of tradition. It was one of the top programs in the MAC. Another reason I chose UT was its great fan base. Having these people around is like having a second family.
We get an opportunity to schedule our classes early and get to know our advisors and our professors. The most important thing is managing your time, being organized and knowing when you have to get things done. We spend a lot of time on the bus and you have to take the necessary time to do the homework. When you are done with that, you can sit and chat with your friends.
I will graduate in May and plan to move to Atlanta and look for work. At the same time, I would like to coach. A couple years down the road, I do plan on going to graduate school and getting a master's degree in architecture.
