I think the big turning point for me was working on my game a lot over the summer. I won the Grand Rapids City Tournament and shot a 66 so that really boosted my confidence. Then I missed qualifying for the U.S. Amateur by one shot. The summer really helped me a lot and I carried it over to this fall.
My grandpa actually built me a set of clubs when I was young, and then my dad took me and my brother out golfing a lot.
I think I'm actually better at other sports than golf. Golf has just given me more opportunities to do things. It's a lot different than basketball, hockey and soccer because its more individualized and very calm.
It's a good steppingstone for our spring season. It will give us a lot of confidence for the spring and that's a big part of our season. Our big goal is to win the MAC Championship and that's what we're shooting for.
I knew a bunch of people who came here from Grand Rapids. (Former Rocket) Jessica Popiel's dad was my high school golf coach and he really recommended the school to me. I also talked to another former player Sara Boogaard who is from Grand Rapids and I had a good recruiting visit. I've really enjoyed myself and it's been a good experience for me.
