A: The biggest thing for us is that we have two classes (juniors and seniors) who have been here for a long time and have a lot of experience. We all know what it is going to take to get there. In the past, we put our heads down in the face of adversity and now we know for a fact that we can compete and that we're good enough to make the tournament.
In high school, I was a central midfielder and I've been in the middle for as long as I can remember. When I came to Toledo, the coaches moved to outside midfield my first year and then for the last year-or-so I played as the right defender. It was a big change moving to defense, but I've become used to it and now I love playing back there. Our defense is great. I am so comfortable back there playing with Sarah Hazenfield, Kirsty Wilson and Suzi Siwinski.
I know especially for Sarah (Hazenfield), Kirsty (Wilson), Suzi (Siwinski) and I, we've played a lot together and we enjoy playing together. As a unit, we know where each of us should be because our communication is very good. I know if I make a mistake, Sarah's behind me and will cover for me until I can recover back into position and vice-versa. As this season has progressed, I think we're getting better with each practice and game.
First of all we have our coaches who insist on that so it's not really an option, but I like to go to the library and all my other classmates or my other teammates support each other and stay on each other. If I see my roommate going to the library then I'm like I should go too. It's another one of those team things, we all kind of play off each other. We look up to each other and see that other people are doing it so it's just something you do, and I think it's something every girl on this team just does.
I'm an English and political science major so I hope to go to law school. Right now, I'm not sure if I'll go to Toledo or some other law school. I'm looking around and just keeping my options open.
