TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - Bruce Gradkowski threw three touchdown passes in the first half and Toledo raced to a 35-0 lead en route to a 56-23 victory over Western Michigan Saturday night.
Jalen Parmele and Quinton Broussard scored two touchdowns apiece for the Rockets (2-0, 1-0 Mid-American Conference), who finished with 612 yards on offense to 299 for the Broncos (0-2, 0-1).
Gradkowski threw touchdown passes of 19 yards to Nick Moore, 26 yards to Steve Odom and 15 yards to Parmele. He finished 25 of 35 for 338 yards and an interception.
Broussard scored on a 17-yard run and a 46-yard run in the fourth quarter. Trinity Dawson rushed 18 times for 97 yards and had a 13-yard TD run in the second quarter for Toledo. Parmele also scored on a 1-yard run.
Western Michigan did not score until late in the first half when Ryan Cubit threw a 37-yard TD pass to Jamarko Simmons.
Cubit was 20 of 33 for 215 yards. Mark Bonds rushed 18 times for 75 yards, including an 8-yard TD run in the fourth quarter for the Broncos.
Simmons also scored when he returned a blocked punt.
