BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) - Germain Fitch scored on a layup with 27 seconds
left and Bowling Green overcame a 17-point halftime deficit to hold off Toledo
70-69 on Saturday night.
John Reimold had 17 points, John Floyd 13, Fitch 12 and Josh Almanson 10 for
the Falcons (11-4, 5-2 Mid-American Conference. Keith Triplett led Toledo (7-8,
3-3) with 26 points.
The Rockets led 34-17 at the half only to go scoreless for the first 3:10 of
the second half. Bowling Green ran off nine points in a row over that span.
The game was tied five times before the teams traded the lead four times in
a 60-second span. Toledo's last lead came on Triplett's jumper with 39 seconds
left.
The Falcons came back and scored when Floyd assisted on Fitch's layup.
Toledo set up for a final shot, but Justin Ingram's 3-pointer was off the
mark, with Floyd rebounding to seal the win.
The Falcons hit 76 percent of their shots in the second half (19 of 25) to
offset 30-percent shooting and 17 turnovers in the first half. They had just
four turnovers in the second half.
Toledo returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 26 with a trip to Athens, OH to battle Ohio (8-7, 3-4 MAC).
