Toledo Edges Akron, 4-3, in MAC Action

AKRON, OH - The University of Toledo tennis team defeated Mid-American Conference foe Akron, 4-3, yesterday at the LaTuchle Tennis Center. With the win the Rockets improve to 7-11 overall and 1-5 in conference play, while Akron falls to 5-11 and 1-5 in the MAC.
Toledo opened play with a win of the doubles point. The team of junior Monica Ribero and sophomore Viviana Rivero defeated Akron's Irina Strembitsky and Mindy Price 9-7 at No. 1 spot, while the Rockets duo of sophomore Eunice Paravicini and junior Jen Meister defeated UA's Courtney Brenkus and Meredith Carey at No. 3, 8-2.
In singles action, Rivero upended Miles (7-6, 6-3) at the No. 2 spot, while Paravicini downed Price (6-3, 6-2) at the No. 3 singles spot. The Rockets secured the win as Meister defeated Carey (6-0, 6-1) at the No. 6 spot.
The Rockets will resume conference play on Saturday, April 18 as the Rockets travel to Buffalo, NY to battle MAC foe Buffalo at 1:00 p.m.
