Rockets Defeat MAC Foe Buffalo, 6-1

Buffalo, NY - The University of Toledo women's tennis team defeated Mid-American Conference foe Buffalo, 6-1, yesterday at the Village Glen Tennis Center. With the win, the Rockets improve to 7-11 and 2-5 in conference play, while the Bulls drop to 6-11 overall and 0-7 in league play.

In doubles action, UT claimed all three of the matches to gain the doubles point.

In singles action, Monica Ribero downed Karen Maynard (6-1, 6-0) at the No. 1 spot, while Eunice Paravicini defeated Michelle Kollarova (6-1, 6-1) at the No. 3 singles spot. Senior Eva Szuch edged out Erica Zielinski (6-4, 6-4) in No. 4 singles, while freshman Daniella Moran upended Lisa Wittman (6-0, 6-2) at the No. 5 spot. Junior Jen Meister rounded out UT's participants defeating Wendy Rose (6-0, 6-1) at the No. 6 spot.

"I am very happy with our effort today," Toledo Head Women's Tennis Coach Laura Segrera said. "Hopefully with play like this we will advance far in the conference tournament."

The Rockets will return home to close out the 2003 regular season as they host Marshall on Friday, April 18 and Miami on Saturday, April 19. Action will start at 1:00 p.m. on both days.
