TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - Senior guard Nick Moore made his final game in Savage Hall a memorable one with six three-pointers and a career-high 38 points as Toledo rolled over Ball State by a 100-64 margin on Wednesday night. The Rockets' victory was their seventh straight on 'Senior Night' under Head Coach Stan Joplin.
Moore went 14 of 16 from the field, made 4 of 4 free throws and 6 of 7
three-pointers. He also grabbed a career-high nine rebounds for the Rockets (12-15, 6-11
Mid-American Conference) who outrebounded Ball State 34-21.
Moore scored 17 points in a seven-minute span including consecutive
3-pointers that put Toledo up 93-57 with 5:03 remaining.
Junior guard Keith Triplett notched 15 points, sophomore guard Jim Clement connected for a career-best four three-pointers on five attempts and scored 12 points, senior forward Milo Kirsh tallied
11 points and redshirt freshman guard Sammy Villegas added 10 points.
The Rockets made 13 of 19 three-point attempts (68 percent) and shot 63.2 percent from the field overall.
UT jumped on the Cardinals early with 17-0 run to take a 33-9 advantage with 11:32 remaining in the first half. The Rockets held a 57-33 halftime advantage and their lead never dipped below 20 points the rest of the contest.
Toledo's largest lead of the game was 98-59 with 1:57 to play in the game following a Kirsh dunk. Kirsh then put the finishing touches on his final home game at Savage Hall by scoring UT's 100th point with 1:31 left in the contest.
Chris Williams led Ball State (13-15, 8-9 MAC) with 26 points and Cameron
Echols scored 18 points.
The Rockets return to action for their 2002-03 season finale with a trip down I-75 to face arch-rival Bowling Green (11-14, 7-9 MAC) on Saturday, March 8 at 2:00 p.m. The Falcons will host Eastern Michigan (14-12, 8-9 MAC) on Thursday at Anderson Arena.
