Evansville Outlasts Toledo, 10-7

WINTER PARK, FL - The Toledo baseball team dropped its seventh-straight contest Friday afternoon losing to Evansville (8-6), 10-7, at the 56th Annual Rollins College Baseball Week Tournament.
Toledo jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first as junior Mitch Maier doubled down the right field line to drive-in two of their three runs. Evansville exploded in the second inning receiving eight hits, including doubles from Erik Lis, Mike Serafini and Nick Albano, and six runs to leap out to a 6-3 lead over the Rockets.
The Purple Aces advanced their lead in the third, scoring three runs on one hit to control a 9-3 lead going into the fourth. After Evansville scored one run in the fourth, Toledo gained ground in the fifth, scoring three runs on three hits, which included Maier's second double of the game. Evansville still held a 10-6 lead going into the bottom of the inning. Toledo picked-up a run in the eighth on a walk with the bases loaded to bring the run tally to 10-7 in favor of Evansville. The Rockets were unable to capitalize in their last chance at bat and the Purple Aces scored the 10-7 victory and sealed a co-champion spot in the tournament with one game remaining.
Toledo sophomore Todd Thomas (0-2) was credited with the loss. Evansville's Michael Greenhouse scored the win with Luke Miller stepping in to close the save. Erik Lis went 4-for-5 and scored tow runs in the win.
