Rockets Come Up Short Against Michigan at Fifth Third Field, 6-4
4/14/2026 11:31:00 PM | Baseball
A crowd of 1,433 attends Tuesday's matchup in Downtown Toledo
Â
The Rockets (16-20) struck for the first two runs of the game. However a pair of runs in both the fourth and sixth innings propelled the Wolverines (21-15) in front, 5-2. Toledo chipped away with a run each in the sixth and seventh innings, but Michigan tacked on an insurance run in the eighth to close the game's scoring.
Â
Redshirt junior Troy Sudbrook tallied another multi-hit game, his 15th of the season. He had a two-run double in the first inning. Junior Cade Baker tallied a hit, a run scored, and RBI and a walk. Four Rockets each scored a run on the evening.
Â
Toledo used six different pitchers on Tuesday. Graduate student Deron Swanson (1.0 inning) and junior John Hojnowski (1.1 innings) each pitched scoreless outings. Hojnowski recorded all four of his outs via the strikeout. Braden Curry took the losing decision.
Â
The crowd of 1,433 was the biggest crowd of the three games Toledo and Michigan have played at the home of the Mud Hens since 2024.

Quoting Head Coach Rob Reinstetle
"We played really hard tonight. It was a good college baseball game. There are a few things we'd like back, but we fought hard. The crowd was electric and really came out to support us. That was great to see and appreciated so much. We turn our sights to a pivotal weekend MAC series with a talented Miami team. We are both tied for second place and this weekend will go a long way in our run for a championship.
