Toledo Gets Edged Out by Evansville, 11-10

The Purple Aces' Mitch Prout scored the win with UT junior Mitch Hayes scoring the loss. Gabe Bauer went 2-for-2 as a pinch hitter with a grand slam in the seventh inning.
Toledo took an early lead over the Purple Aces in the bottom of the first on a double by senior Phil Pilewski to drive-in two runs to give Toledo a 2-0 lead going into the second.
Evansville tied the game in the third on a hit by Luke Miller that was meant to be an intentional walk, but the pitch was thrown over the plate enough for Miller to make contact and drive in two runs. The Purple Aces scored one more run in the inning to take a 3-2 lead over Toledo.
With Toledo scoring one run in both the third and fourth innings and Evansville driving-in one in the fifth, the game was tied 4-4 going into the bottom of the fifth. Toledo notched one run on one hit to pull the Rockets out to a 5-4 advantage.
Evansville took back the lead in the seventh inning on a grand slam from Bauer to put the Purple Aces on top 9-5. Toledo rallied in the bottom of the seventh scoring five runs from base hits by junior Aaron Rouser, senior Taylor Eckel, freshman Dan Stong, and junior Mitch Maier and a double by junior Chris Arvay to take a 10-9 lead over the Purple Aces going into the eighth.
Evansville regained the lead in the eighth on a double to tally two RBI's and give Evansville the 11-10 victory. Evansville claimed the championship with a record of 5-1. Rollins College finished second, Georgetown University third and Toledo fourth.
Toledo returns to action on Wednesday, March 19, when the Rockets travel to Fort Wayne, IN to battle IPFW at 2:00 p.m.
