* UT's triumph snapped an eight-game losing streak in road season openers. The last time the Rockets opened a season on the road with a win was a 105-83 victory at Rollins on Nov. 28, 1981. UT now has a 3-23 all-time record when opening the season away from home.

* Head Coach Stan Joplin is now 4-4 in season openers and improved his career record to 118-88 (.573) to rank 11th in MAC history for winning percentage.

* In addition to his team-high 17 points, senior guard Keith Triplett led UT with three steals while collecting six rebounds and two assists in 26 minutes.

* Sophomore guard Chauncey Shelton grabbed a career-high eight rebounds in a career-high 21 minutes. Shelton was the top rebounder in the contest and helped the Rockets to a 37-32 advantage in the contest.

* All 13 Rockets played in the contest with sophomore guard Sammy Villegas and freshman guard Justin Ingram leading the way in minutes played with 28 apiece.

* Sammy Villegas led the team with four assists as seven different Rockets collected an assist.

* The Rockets' freshman point guard tandem of Justin Ingram and Rashay Russell combined for 10 points, five rebounds, three assists and two turnovers.

* Toledo shot 87.5 percent (14-of-16) from the free-throw line which was a vast improvement over last year's 66.5 mark. Freshman forward Florentino Valencia led the way by knocking down all five of his attempts from the charity stripe.
